  i love chicken pie.

  the calories are terrible for a pie crusted chicken pie dinner but i love it.. and i love milk chocolate covered candy such as raisinettes or raspberry chocolate candies..

  The gist of the thread is that men have it a lot easier than women in many aspects. That’s not to say that men don’t get depressed, because we all know they do.

  Say you're young, strong, single, have a job and want to have a place of your own

  say you're a young witness woman, in your twenties, single and you finished the studies your family would let you take, and you have a job.

  would it be possible or common for you to face your parents and say "hey, i'm going to live on my own" (supposing you have the money, of course)?.

  That was my situation after I was kicked out of home (step-parent problems).

  I soon moved to another congregation and I think some of the elders thought they could act as my spiritual head and try to tell me what to do sometimes, then get righteously indignant when I did whatever I thought was right, LOL! I think some of them couldn’t get their brains around the fact that some women were independent money earners who could think for themselves.

  They also got suspicious if a friend (female) who they didn’t know came to visit, because someone would inevitably see a strange car parked outside my place, and their dirty minds assumed I had a male friend who I was doing the dirty deed with! That happened once when I had my sister come to visit – the phone rang hot the next day!

  i saw a thread on another forum suggesting this...based on all the info so readily available to so many nowadays...its certainly true that the society is warning all the witnesses about it.... what do you think?

  is it possible that it could seriously affect their status?

  I don’t think the internet alone will bring down the WTS, but it’s obvious that in the countries with readily available internet, the numbers of publishers are falling.

  It’s allowing witnesses who may have been having some doubts to investigate their religion. I never thought I’d ever leave “the truth” but here I am, 10 years after first typing “jehovah’s witnesses” into my computer search engine!

  what the hell is up with the "ban" on facial hair outside of a mustache in the wt?.

  i see nothing about it in the bible, and i remember i did some research and nothing came up in the jw publications.. did i miss something?.

  oh wait, is this another way to get people to conform without scriptural basis.... i want a goatee :(.... actually i'm thinking of growing one and then people would get the idea that i'm not doing so hot in "the truth"..

  Some men look better with a beard.

  I remember back in the early 80s we had a brother who was a MS. He had moved to our cong wearing the beard, and was used widely in our small congregation. However, to become an elder he had to shave the beard. Now, I’m talking about a trimmed beard that academics are seen to wear. Not like he was toting a bikie beard.

  Anyway, he shaved the beard and became an elder. But he never looked the same.

  i would just like some opinions on something that seems strange to me.

  there is a man at my sons' school who comes every day to pick up his daughter.

  he has always been friendly with me, and i am friendly back, which is fine.

  Firstly, you say every time you look at him, he winks at you.

  Solution: Don’t look at him!!

  And you assume he hasn’t seen your wedding ring. Sorry, but a wedding ring means nothing these days. He probably assumes you’re looking for a little fun on the side (after all, why are you always looking at him?).
